Justin Bieber's monkey quarantined in Germany

Justin Bieber's monkey quarantined in Germany
Justin Bieber had to leave a monkey in quarantine after landing in Germany last week without the necessary papers for the animal, an official said Saturday.
The 19-year-old singer arrived at Munich airport last Thursday. When he went through customs, he didn't have the documentation necessary to bring the capuchin monkey into the country, so the animal had to stay with authorities, customs spokesman Thomas Meister said.
Bieber performed in Munich on Thursday, beginning the latest leg of his European tour. He later tweeted: "Munich was a good time. And loud. The bus is headed to Vienna now. U coming?" He didn't mention the monkey.
The Canadian singer is giving several concerts in Austria and then in Germany over the next week.
Bieber had a trying stay in London recently. The star struggled with his breathing and fainted backstage at a show, was taken to a hospital and then was caught on camera clashing with a paparazzo. Days earlier, he was booed by his beloved fans when he showed up late to a concert.

Taylor Swift to guest on 'New Girl' season finale

Taylor Swift to guest on 'New Girl' season finale
Taylor Swift is guest-starring in the May 14 episode of the Fox comedy, EW has learned. The country pop star will play a character named Elaine, who is an “important guest” at the wedding of Cece (Hannah Simone) and Shivrang (Satya Bhabha).
The singer-songwriter and  New Girl fan has been name-checked multiple times on the show this season: In one episode, Schmidt (Max Greenfield) sent Cece a text in which he said he was going through a “Taylor Swift-like range of emotions,” while in another, Nick (Jake Johnson) tried to cheer up a heartbroken Jess (Zooey Deschanel) with unfortunate dance moves while she moaned, “I just wanted to listen to Taylor Swift alone,” and “22″ played in the background.
Swift, who has hosted Saturday Night Live, guest-starred in an episode of CSI and appeared in the romantic comedy film Valentine’s Day, will be on set next week to shoot her part.
Jamie Lee Curtis, Rob Reiner, Olivia Munn, Nick Kroll, Parker Posey, and Margo Martindale are among the other celebrities who have appeared on New Girl this season.

Judge: Angelina Jolie Didn't Plagiarize 'In The Land Of Blood And Honey'

Judge: Angelina Jolie Didn't Plagiarize 'In The Land Of Blood And Honey'
A Croation journalist has lost a lawsuit against Angelina Jolie after claiming the actress plagiarized his work for her film "In The Land of Blood and Honey."

James Braddock published his book "Salamanje Duse" in 2007 with a shorter version in English titled "The Soul Shattering." The journalist claims one of the film's producers, Edin Scarki, read the book which heavily influenced the plot of "In the Land of Blood and Honey."

U.S. District Judge Dolly Gee ruled that no breach of copyright had occurred. Even though both the book and film include rape and escape sequences, Braddock can't have claimed to have "invented the concept of rape as a war crime." In addition, "those overlapping concepts are commonplace in books and films depicting war."

Gee also ruled: "although Blood and Honey is also a story of love, it highlights the complications of romantic love during wartime." The film is set against the backdrop of the Bosnian War that tore the Balkan region apart in the 1990s and tells the story of Danijel and Ajla, two Bosnians from different sides of a brutal ethnic conflict.

It is unknown whether Braddock will appeal the case.

Kim Kardashian Talks Possible Baby Names: Easton West Is Cute

Kim Kardashian Talks Possible Baby Names: Easton West Is Cute
Kim Kardashian is such a tease. The pregnant reality TV series kept people guessing about the gender of her baby and what name she picked for the bundle of joy when she talked about her upcoming little one during a visit to "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno".

"We have a list and some of them are 'K names' and some of them aren't," the girlfriend of Kanye West coyly said when asked by the host if she would follow the family's tradition to pick a "K" name for the baby if it's a girl.

She did, however, give one clue. She wouldn't name the kid North West, contrary to the swirling rumor recently. "You know what name I do like but it probably won't be on? I like Easton. Easton West? I think that's cute," she eventually gave away which her favorite name on the said list.

"Now Easton would be a boy's name, correct?" Jay Leno wondered out loud to get the mom-to-be to spill the baby's gender. "You never know. Boys names are good for girls. I think it's cute," she evaded the question.

Of whether her child will be following her footsteps in the showbiz, Kim said, "My momager will not be handling anything for the baby cause the baby is not hopefully gonna do anything to be in the business or have a show or do anything like that. If one day he or she wants to be..."

Harry Potter actor Richard Griffiths dies after surgery

Harry Potter actor Richard Griffiths dies after surgery
(Reuters) - British actor Richard Griffiths, best known for his roles in 'Withnail and I' and the Harry Potter films, has died at the age of 65 after complications following heart surgery, his agent said on Friday.
Griffiths spent almost four decades in radio, film, on television and on stage, and received some of his industry's top awards for his role in Alan Bennett's play "The History Boys".

The portly actor filled the screen as the lascivious Uncle Monty in the cult 1987 film 'Withnail and I'.

But younger fans will remember him for his portrayal of a much crueler avuncular figure - Harry Potter's red-faced and bullying uncle Vernon Dursley.

Daniel Radcliffe, who played the boy wizard and performed with Griffiths in the stage play "Equus", said the veteran performer had encouraged and coached him and helped him get over his nerves.

"Richard was by my side during two of the most important moments of my career ... any room he walked into was made twice as funny and twice as clever just by his presence. I am proud to say I knew him," Radcliffe said in a statement.

Griffiths' agent, Simon Beresford, described him as "a remarkable man and one of our greatest and best-loved actors". He said Griffiths died in hospital on Thursday.

The actor was born in Thornaby-on-Tees in Yorkshire, northern England, the son of a steelworker. Both his parents were deaf and he learned sign language to communicate with them.

After studying drama in Manchester, he worked in radio and theatre, building a reputation as a Shakespearean clown.

He reprised his role as teacher Hector in a film of "The History Boys" in 2006. One of his best known roles on television was a cookery-loving detective in "Pie in the Sky".

On stage, he was known for his intolerance of mobile phones ringing during performances, and halted plays several times to complain and even eject offending audience members.

Nicholas Hytner, director of Britain's National Theatre, said Griffiths' unexpected death would devastate his "army of friends".

"Richard Griffiths wasn't only one of the most loved and recognizable British actors - he was also one of the very greatest," Hytner said in a statement.

Griffiths was given an OBE in 2008 and is survived by his wife Heather.

Anna Chlumsky Expecting First Child

Anna Chlumsky Expecting First Child
She’s got sunshine on a cloudy day … and a baby on the way!

Anna Chlumsky and husband Shaun So are expecting their first child this summer, the Veep star confirms to PEOPLE exclusively.

“I’m feeling pretty good so far,” Chlumsky, 32, tells PEOPLE. “I was really lucky — I did not have any morning sickness which was great because I was working.”

The actress, who shot to fame in the 1991 film My Girl, says she and So — who wed in 2008 — are keeping the baby’s sex to themselves for the time being.

Now that Veep is finished shooting its second season (kicking off  April 14 on HBO), “we’re working on getting the nursery ready,” Chlumsky says — and reading up on baby.

“I’m being judicious with which books I read because I don’t want to get overwhelmed,” explains Chlumsky. “Most of the books have to do with how to have a worry-free pregnancy and keep the anxiety down.”

Movie Review: Spring Breakers

Movie Review: Spring Breakers
Spring Breakers will owe its box office success to its continual shots of bosoms and bottoms, not always covered by bikinis.

I'm not sure I ever saw the personal parts of Disney stars Selena Gomez and Vanessa Hudgens, but it looked as if writer-director Harmony Korine exhausted the studio warehouse of flashes of teenage bodies bouncing around, in film stock ranging from standard to super-grainy amateur, imitating what we used to call cinema verite and are now expected to accept as reality.
The whole thing looks like amateur exploitation until, suddenly, James Franco, of all people, shows up and things start to get sporadically grim and grimmer.

Franco is surprisingly convincing as a gang leader with gold-plated front teeth and a big, wide, phony-looking smile that served him poorly in Oz the Great and Powerful, but suits him perfectly here. Both he and the movie as a whole are conspicuously delicate about the prostitution that seems almost inevitable, but the gang world is appropriately sleazy and ugly. And if Gomez, Hudgens and company aren't repelled by it, they were not exactly innocent doves to start with, having financed their spring adventure with armed robbery.

These characters are so shallow that not much acting is called for, even by Franco. About the only "reality" we experience is in the deliberate crudeness of the camera and editing techniques, and even this is undercut by obvious use of flashy-then-subdued color, not to mention contrast cuts between practically satanic orgy shots and stone-cold police stations or dark, wet streets inhabited only by people in serious trouble.

There is a surprise in the very last spoken lines, but otherwise Spring Breakers is pretty predictable from the moment Franco makes clear that this is not a comedy.

Another Motown Special? Predictable Week For American Idol, Janelle Arthur Saves The Day

Another Motown Special? Predictable Week For American Idol, Janelle Arthur Saves The Day
Really, American Idol? Another Motown special? You’d think that with so much experience under their belts, and with world-class talent like Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey on board, the folks behind American Idol would be able to think of something a little more… how you say… challenging? or interesting, even, than yet another Motown-themed evening on American Idol. That’s what viewers were faced with last night though and once again, it is via the medium of Motown that the weekly winners and losers shall be decided.
So who were those winners and losers? Well, Nicki Minaj has already stated, unequivocally, that whoever wins this year’s American Idol, it will not be a male contestant. Hanging on by a thread, then, is Lazaro Arbos. Even the presence of a gaggle of backing singers and brass players couldn’t lift Lazaro’s performance above being mediocre. And as for his joint performance with Burnell Taylor and Davin Velez? Well, that was a disaster and he even admitted that he didn’t know the words to the song. It’s not looking good for Lazaro right now
On the other end of the spectrum, Janelle Arthur’s country version of ‘You Keep Me Hanging On’ by The Supremes was a real success. Not only did she manage to transform the song but she did so with real style and grace, mastering the art of performing live with a guitar, which few contestants ever do successfully. It was a clear hit with the studio audience and the judges and we reckon Janelel’s going to be in the clear for another show.

Chris Brown makes a new album — and tries to remake an old image

Chris Brown makes a new album — and tries to remake an old image
Chris Brown is in a Burbank studio previewing his forthcoming album, and pushing the reset button on a career bogged down by scandal. The embattled R&B singer takes a lengthy drag off his cigarette before pressing "play" on the title track of "X," his sixth disc, due out in late summer.

"You can start a fight, I ain't fighting back," he sings on the track. "I swear to God I'm moving on."
Brown listens quietly as the music plays out, dancing behind the sprawling control console. When it's over, the singer puts out his cigarette, takes a seat and opens up.

"Basically I'm being honest," he says. "I'm 23. I hang out with a lot of bad people and a lot of good people. But everything is a learning process. I'm just trying to move forward and learn from every mistake."

From his felony conviction over a 2009 assault against girlfriend Rihanna and their on again-off again relationship since, frequent Twitter spats and alleged fights with Frank Ocean and Drake, Brown has no shortage of mistakes to learn from.

But Brown still has fans. He won his first Grammy last year for his comeback record, "F.A.M.E.," and his last effort, 2012's "Fortune," reached No. 1 and sold 135,000 copies in its first week.
While recording "X," Brown was aware that he was up against a reputation he, in part, helped create.

"There was so muc.... that was going on in my life. Fights and other stuff going on in the media. I got to the point where I didn't even want to leave the studio," he says, his tattoos and the serious topic making him seem older than his age. "It's like I don't even want to go out and be seen. I don't want a new story to come out."

Just outside earshot is a small entourage that includes his mother and his publicist. In person he's charming and downright likable -- reinforcing the disconnect between his dangerous public persona and the introspective person sitting behind closed doors.

But he says the record's more honest approach is not a bid to win over a disapproving public.

"I think it's about me having a clear head -- me actually being humble about it," he says. "People are just going to have to like me for it. Or don't. I don't really focus on the negative anymore. I know there's always stories or this or that out about Chris Brown.... [but] whatever you think you know about me, just listen to the album."
The album's title has several meanings, according to Brown. It's the numbers in his birthdate, added together and converted to a Roman numeral. It's also the 24th letter in the alphabet, corresponding to the age he'll be when the album is released. But there's more to it for Brown.

"'X' is almos.... the reject," he explains. "X defines who I am -- whether it means X being forbidden or blunt. It's who I am now, transitioning as a man and not trying to focus on the past stuff and trials and tribulations. It's the unspoken voice from me."

To record the album, the singer recruited emerging producers and returning hit makers Polow Da Don, Timbaland, Pharrell, Drumma Boy and Danja. While recent work relied on pulsating Europop, to much negative criticism, on "X" the singer performs tracks that showcase his ability to straddle urban and pop terrain and show him singing with greater depth.

"Somebody Else" might have an '80s hip-hop dance-beat flourish, but a closer listen reveals him singing that he "never saw the day coming that you would leave." The navel-gazing continues on "Autumn Leaves," a somber ballad that will feature Kendrick Lamar.

And yes, Brown has logged more studio time with Rihanna.

"When we did 'Nobody's Business' [their 2012 single] we actually did another song for my album called 'Put It Up,'" he says, his face glowing. "I wanted to do an R&B record with Rihanna. I didn't want to do the pop stuff, I wanted to do something that people aren't used to hearing."

The album's first single, a retro-dipped R&B love ode called, "Fine China," is set for release on April 1.

Producer Leon "RoccStar" Youngblood Jr. (Rita Ora, Timbaland, Usher) helped produce or write a number of tracks on the album. He likens "X" to "Confessions," Usher's critically heralded 2004 disc of provocative, self-referential tunes. He says it will give Brown's harshest critics an unexpectedly revealing scope of the singer.

"They don't see the person behind the image," Youngblood said. "He's done a great record.... but they are great pop records. It doesn't tell the world who he is. [This album] is going to put a heartbeat inside the persona. I think this is going to bring him to life. You're going to finally understand what he feels."

John Kennedy, music editor of Vibe magazine, said Brown's negative image is largely self-generated. Time, not just music, can change that.

"He's been looked at as 'the bad boy of R&B,' the new Bobby Brown," Kennedy said. "Obviously, after a lot of incidents and episodes that he's had, it's something that's been cast on him. But he's also embraced it in a way. It's like OK, you want to call me this bad guy, I'm going to run with that and get all the tattoos and act wild. He's kind of taken it on."

Can an album change that?

"I'm not sure there is anything deliberate that he can do that might change our minds," Kennedy said. "If he were able to put together a good stretch of time where he wasn't getting into altercations, or getting into trouble with the law, and just kind of shying away ... it would be possible."

Brown knows people are watching, listening and waiting to judge.

"For this album you get a chance to take a journey with me and listen to every dynamic of who I am, whether it be the subject matter or the substance in the records," Brown says. "I've been doing this for eight years, but now it's me trying to prove another point. It's not as much as me wanting to prove to naysayers, it's more of me proving to my fans."

Just Bieber in struts half-naked through airport then flies home to neighbor's battery accusation: Favorite People

Just Bieber in struts half-naked through airport then flies home to neighbor's battery accusation: Favorite People
But TMZ reports he returned home Tuesday, the morning after strutting half-naked through an airport in Lodz — for no apparent reason — to the delight of gossip sites and Beliebers. Our guess is he either hoped to protest invasive airport screening measures or just wanted to show off his abs. Either way, he flung off his shirt and let his pants sag, revealing several inches of his white underwear.

You have to imagine Bieber was just happy to be back in the U.S. after the unrelenting drama of his Believe Tour stops in London and beyond. He caused an uproar by showing up late to one concert then collapsed backstage at another, tussled with paparazzi and canceled a performance in Portugal — spurring talk of a heartthrob meltdown.

Then authorities were called to the fight scene in Calabasas just after 9 a.m. Tuesday, said Steve Whitmore, spokesman for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. “There have been allegations made against Mr. Bieber of battery and making threats,” he said.

No one was arrested and few details were immediately available. It was unclear who called authorities and whether there have been previous problems between the singer and neighbors, Whitmore said.

TMZ quotes another neighbor who says the fight started over a new car. Bieber reportedly had a Ferrari delivered Monday night on a flat-bed truck, then spent Tuesday morning racing it around nearby streets. He and his accuser got in a shouting match after the man complained of deafening noise and the dangers of Bieber's breakneck driving.

A representative of Bieber did not immediately return a request for comment.

Exclusive 'Wolverine' Trailer Teaser: Hugh Jackman Goes Darker Than Ever

Exclusive 'Wolverine' Trailer Teaser: Hugh Jackman Goes Darker Than Ever
If Monday's six-second Vine preview of "The Wolverine" left you wanting more, we have some extra mutant action to get you ready for the first trailer, debuting Wednesday. In an exclusive teaser, we begin to see the world of the new standalone Wolverine movie, and one thing is for certain: it's much darker.
From the project's earliest days, star Hugh Jackman has been touting the follow-up to "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" as a much different animal. As enormous fans of the character, Jackman and director James Mangold wanted to restore the character's gritty nature and explore the aspects of his personality that have made him a fan favorite since his debut in 1974.

Though there's still much to see from "The Wolverine" before its July 26 release date, the 20-second teaser gives fans their best look yet at the character's adventures in Japan. Physically, Jackman is much more muscular than he's been as Wolverine in the past, and we see the results of that when he briefly takes on a few foes and dispatches them with a deadly quickness.

'Wolverine' Vine teaser: Nine blink-and-miss 'em moments!

The teaser ends with a somewhat vague hint about where the story of "The Wolverine" may go. Speaking with a mysterious man, Wolverine references the experiments done to him that turned him into the clawed mutant we know, suggesting that nothing can ever change him. The man, however, says that is not necessarily true.

We'll hopefully find out more when the first full trailer for "The Wolverine" debuts, but for now, see what other clues you can uncover in the teaser until then.

Kate Middleton Cancels Overseas Tours To Focus On Royal Baby

Kate Middleton Cancels Overseas Tours To Focus On Royal Baby
Their principal private secretary Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton told The Mirror yesterday that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge would be focussing on their family for the rest of 2013 and and that their tour schedule will be "assessed" later in the year.

He said: "I’m not anticipating the Duke and Duchess taking on overseas tours because of her baby."

It's thought that Kate will take a period of maternity leave after the birth and Prince William won't undertake any tours alone.

Once he's completed his RAF duties as a search and rescue pilot in September, he'll spend as much time as possible with the new arrival and the pair will visit any countries as a couple – possibly with the baby – in 2014.

Next week they'll head to Glasgow on a tour of Scotland. On the 4th and 5th of April, the royal couple will visit the Emirates Arena to watch cyclers, netball, and badminton. They'll also tour a facility that helps young homeless people and launch a new initiative which will inspire and train young sports coaches.

Britney, Lindsay land new boyfriends

Britney, Lindsay land new boyfriends

Is happy news maybe on the horizon for these two stars?

Britney Spears has a new beau. The star, who split from fiancé Jason Trawick in January, was first spotted with David Lucado (an obvious Virginia Tech fan) in Los Angeles two weeks ago. TMZ reports Lucado, 27, is "a normal guy" from Atlanta who works at a law firm (but is not a lawyer).

Now, the two, wearing similar hats and vests, have been spotted over the weekend in Las Vegas. The Daily Mail makes the case that Britney has a history of dressing like her men.

After a day of shopping on Saturday, Britney dined at Meatball Spot at Town Square with manager Larry Rudolph and two other people — and was later joined by Lucado and six more friends, reports People, before heading to Shania Twain's show later that evening at Caesars Palace.

Meanwhile, photos are popping up of Lindsay Lohan smooching it up with new boyfriend Avi Snow, club promoter and musician, at crowded club 41 Ocean, in Santa Monica on Saturday night.

While some reports suggest Lohan was drinking, she posted a note on her Facebook page on Sunday setting the record straight:

"1) It wasn't a nightclub - 41 Ocean is a members only dining club...and a private event 2) It WAS Pellegrino! and 3) the most important part - the band City of the Sun did any amazing job last night! I took this video for you guys to see ? LL"

Justin Timberlake Celebrates Career Best Album Figures; Could He Break 1 Million In The US?

Justin Timberlake Celebrates Career Best Album Figures; Could He Break 1 Million In The US?
Justin Timberlake is back on top of the pop world again, with his first album in seven years smashing into the top of the UK album charts, and expected to do much the same when the Billboard charts reveal their own US album list later this week.
Billboard reports that The 20/20 Experience was the fastest-selling title of the year when debuting at number one in the UK yesterday, notching up sales of around 106,000 copies in its first week, pushing David Bowie’s own comeback The Next Day down to second spot (it sold 35,000 copies after selling 91,000 the previous week.)
It’s the most successful first week on the UK albums chart Timberlake’s ever had, and it barnstorming success looks set to roll over back to his native America.
Billboard say that experts are predicting that Timberlake is a runaway shoe-in for the top spot when the album charts for America are released on Wednesday (March 27, 2013) and are claiming it could sell as many as 950,000 to 975,000 copies. That would make it the fastest selling US album since Taylor Swift’s Red last year, and if it was to surpass the predictions and breach 1 million copies sold it would become the first to do so since Swift’s Autumn 2012 effort, and just the 19th since 1991, when SoundScan started tracking sales. We never doubted you for an instant, Justin.

Selena Gomez Single And 'Really' Enjoying Life Without Justin Bieber
Selena Gomez may have ended her two year relationship with Justin Bieber, but she has no regrets.

The actress and singer, 20, stopped by "Chelsea Lately" with her co-star Vanessa Hudgens and opened up about her life post-Bieber. When Chelsea Handler asked the former Disney star if she was enjoying life without a boyfriend, a beaming Gomez replied, "Yes, I really am!"

Handler then congratulated the newly single star, saying, "Enjoy this, girl. You're 20 years old. You've got a lot of men ahead of you ... have a blast!"

Earlier this week, Gomez made an appearance on "The Late Show With David Letterman" and poked fun at her 19-year-old ex, joking that she made him cry.

"The last time he was on, he and I got into a conversation and he said something, then I said something," Letterman said. "And I made him cry."

"Well then, that makes two of us," Gomez quipped.

The "Spring Breakers" star has been on a roll lately, proving to the all those Beliebers that she is, in fact, over Bieber.
"I'm good. I'm really good. I've been recording, having a lot of fun with my girlfriends, having a good time," she told E! recently. "I'm having a lot of fun expressing everything that I'm feeling."

Ashley Greene’s dog dies in fire that destroys 'Twilight' star's West Hollywood condo

Ashley Greene’s dog dies in fire that destroys 'Twilight' star's West Hollywood condo
Actress Ashley Greene’s West Hollywood apartment was destroyed Friday morning in a fire that claimed the life of one of the “Twilight” star’s dogs, TMZ reported.
The 26-year-old starlet, her boyfriend and her brother managed to wake up in time to escape the blaze, which broke out on a couch in the living room, a firefighter told the gossip site.

The two men were unsuccessful, however, in their attempts to return to the apartment to rescue Greene’s two pets. By the time firefighters were able to get the fire under control, they could only save one of the two animals, and found the other dead in a hiding spot under Greene’s bed.
TMZ later posted dramatic cellphone video of Greene cradling the blanket-wrapped body of her dead pet and crying inconsolably in the building's lobby.

"We were dispatched at 9:50 a.m. PST to reports of a highrise fire," Inspector Quvondo Johnson of the Los Angeles County Fire Department told the Daily News. "We did see smoke and fire from the third floor when we arrived. Based on the occupany load of the building, we quickly raised it to a two alarm fire."
Fifty-five firefighters responded to the scene and brought the fire under control by 10:07 a.m. PST.

“The cause is undetermined," the actress's spokesperson told People magazine.
It's not clear if the deceased dog was Marlo, Greene's prized fox terrier that had often been seen carried by the actress on sets over the past few years.

"She’s like my child, and she instantly brightens up everything," Greene said in a Lucky magazine interview last year.
Three people were injured from the fire, but declined hospitalization.

It's also not clear if the unidentified boyfriend was actor Ryan Phillippe, who was photographed leaving an L.A. hotspot in a car with Greene on Wednesday night.
The seven-story Granville Tower, where Greene had been renting her apartment, had been built in 1929 and had previously been home to movie stars Mickey Rourke and Rock Hudson, residents told L.A.’s KTLA TV.

Lil Wayne proves he’s alive, out of hospital, in video greeting to fans

Lil Wayne proves he’s alive, out of hospital, in video greeting to fans
A week after his mysterious hospitalization, Lil Wayne offered proof-of-life Friday: A video in which the rapper, apparently up and walking around, thanks fans for their prayers (“I felt that love when I was laid up in that [expletive] hospital bed.”) and assures them his new album will be released on schedule next week.  Special guest appearance by his friend T.I., who promises their concert tour will also carry on. Amid all this self-promotion, though, no explanation of what exactly ailed him. Strangely, the video was released via TMZ, which T.I. and other members of Wayne’s camp feuded with last weekend, hotly denying the site’s anonymously-sourced claims that he was near death.

Jackson's sex abuse case may feature in new trial over death

Jackson's sex abuse case may feature in new trial over death
LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Michael Jackson's 2005 trial and acquittal on child sex abuse charges may be revisited in a civil lawsuit next month that pits the pop singer's mother against concert promoters AEG Live, a Los Angeles judge ruled on Thursday.

Katherine Jackson is suing AEG Live for the wrongful death of her son, alleging that the concert promoter was negligent in hiring Dr. Conrad Murray to care for the singer ahead of a series of London comeback concerts set for July 2009.

Jackson, 50, died in June 2009 in Los Angeles after a rehearsal for the concerts. Murray was found guilty in 2011 of responsibility for Jackson's death by giving him the surgical anesthetic propofol as a sleep aid, and is serving a four-year sentence for involuntary manslaughter.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Yvette Palazuelos ruled that attorneys for AEG Live could raise Jackson's molestation trial as part of their defense in the wrongful death case as it may be relevant to his history of drug abuse and despondency.

After years of legal wrangling, the civil trial is due to get underway on April 2 and could last up to three months.

Katherine Jackson and the "Thriller" singer's two oldest children, Prince and Paris, could be called as witnesses, Palazuelos ruled in a pre-trial hearing.

Murray may also be called to testify, although Katherine Jackson's lawyer said the physician was planning to assert his Fifth Amendment rights and remain silent.

Katherine Jackson sued AEG Live a year after the "Thriller" singer's death on behalf of his three children, Prince, Paris and Prince II, known as Blanket. She is not suing Murray.

The pop star stood trial in central California in 2005 on charges of molesting a 13-year-old boy he had befriended and hosted at his Neverland Ranch. After a more than four-month trial, the singer was acquitted on all counts.

Taylor Swift rumored to be in new relationship with John John Florence

Taylor Swift rumored to be in new relationship with John John Florence
On the heels of the news that Taylor Swift wrote “I Knew You Were Trouble” about One Direction star Harry Styles, the 23-year-old singer may have already set her sights on someone new.
A source close to the pair told Life & Style that “he and Taylor have been texting.”

The source went on to say that the “Red” singer made the first move.

“Apparently, she contacted him,” said the source. “I don’t think they have hung out yet. They’ve just been chatting.”

The 20-year-old surfer was careful not to reveal too much when he was questioned about their relationship during an interview on Australian television.

“Uh, I’m not supposed to comment about that,” he said.

Perhaps because some have openly criticized Swift for going through boyfriends quickly, the Hawaiian is aiming to take things slowly.

“John John doesn’t want to ruin things, so he’s being careful not to say too much,” the source continued.

Opposing Views was hesitant to confirm the rumors.

Although the mag’s source claims that “everyone in the surf industry is talking about them hooking up,” the news outlet remains skeptical.

A source close to Swift told Gossip Cop that the rumor is not true.

“She doesn’t even know him,” the source claimed.

Ryan Gosling: 'I'm Taking A Break From Acting'

Hollywood hunk plans to step back behind the camera for a while...

Ryan Gosling may be one of Hollywood's hottest talents, but the Gangster Squad star has revealed he is set to take a break from acting this year.

Speaking to the Huffington Post about acting, he said he'll be putting it on the back-burner while he directs his debut movie behind the camera in May.

He said: "I've been doing too much.

"I've lost perspective on what I'm doing. I think it's good for me to take a break and reassess why I'm doing it and how I'm doing it.

"And I think this is probably a good way to learn about that. I need a break from myself as much as I imagine the audience does.

"There's a lot of pressure to be the lead of a film. I have done it. It's not my favourite way to work."

Ryan will be helming How To Catch A Monster, which we told you recently could star Matt Smith along with Eva Mendes and Christina Hendricks.

Tom Cruise spies role as Man from UNCLE

Tom Cruise spies role as Man from UNCLE
Tom Cruise is set to spearhead a second big-screen take on a long-running 60s spy TV drama. The Mission: Impossible star is in talks to appear in a film based on The Man from UNCLE for director Guy Ritchie, according to Deadline.

Warner Bros has been developing a movie based on the cult espionage show since the 90s and Ritchie replaces Steven Soderbergh in the director's chair. The Ocean's Eleven film-maker had proposed a version with George Clooney in the lead, but Clooney later left the project, citing unwillingness to take on an action role because he was having surgery to his neck and back.

Cruise would be taking on a third action franchise, with Mission: Impossible certain to get a fifth outing in the wake of Brad Bird-directed Ghost Protocol's $694m (£459m) box-office haul last year and his recent Jack Reacher film (a hearty $215m worldwide on a $60m budget) also set for a follow up. The actor will be seen next on the big screen in sci-fi outings Oblivion, for Tron's Joseph Kosinski, and All You Need Is Kill, for The Bourne Identity's Doug Liman.

The original Man from UNCLE TV show, which aired from 1964 to 1968, saw Robert Vaughn and David McCallum as members of the United Network Command for Law and Enforcement, the former playing American spy Napoleon Solo and the latter a Russian agent called Illya Kuryakin. It was one of a number of espionage shows that flourished after the success of the early James Bond films, and 007 creator Ian Fleming was among those involved in its conception.

The show joins other 60s spy series that have made it to the big screen, including Mission Impossible, Get Smart and The Avengers. Of these, only the first has proved to have any legs in multiplexes.

Ritchie is currently hot property in Hollywood after successfully directing two blockbuster action-oriented Sherlock Holmes films starring Robert Downey Jr as Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's ingenious sleuth. He was recently reported to be the bookie's favourite to take on the next Bond film after fellow Briton Sam Mendes confirmed he will not return for a follow-up to the $1bn-grossing Skyfall.

Inside 'The Host' Premiere: No Vampires, But Plenty of Alien Love

Inside 'The Host' Premiere: No Vampires, But Plenty of Alien Love
Saoirse Ronan, Diane Kruger and director Andrew Niccol celebrate the adaptation of "Twilight" author Stephenie Meyer's latest book with a futuristic, blue-themed party in Hollywood.
A blue carpet was rolled out along Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood on Monday to celebrate the premiere of The Host, the film adaptation of Stephenie Meyer’s latest book.
The stars of the film -- Saoirse Ronan, Diane Kruger, Max Irons and Jake Abel -- walked the blue carpet along with Meyer and director Andrew Niccol before heading into the premiere at ArcLight Cinemas and an after party at Lure Nightclub on March 19.
PHOTOS: ‘The Host' Premiere: Saoirse Ronan, Diane Kruger Celebrate Stephenie Meyer's Adaptation
Before the screening began, Niccol invited his cast and Meyer onstage for a brief introduction, attempting to explain the complicated nature of the relationships in the film, which include humans falling in love with aliens and also in love with the humans living in the alien-controlled bodies.
“You promised me I didn’t have to talk,” says Meyer when Niccol hands her the microphone, but she quickly turns to the audience and adds that she hopes they enjoy watching it even a little bit as much as she loved making it.
The film, following humans living on an Earth invaded by aliens called “souls” who use human bodies as their hosts, is a step deeper for Meyer, whose previous Twilight stories launched a multi-billion dollar franchise and a new universe of fans.
“Philosophically, it’s a great story,” Niccol tells The Hollywood Reporter at the premiere. “It’s more than just romantic love, which is what Stephenie has done before. It’s about a greater love. It’s about whether we can co-exist amongst ourselves, and even with a species from another actress.”
Niccol, who wrote the screenplay for Open Road Films’ project, says he worked with Meyer every step of the way while making the film.
At the futuristic, blue-themed after party at Lure, which featured dozens of glowing blue orbs hanging from the ceiling, Meyer and Niccol spent a good amount of time chatting with each other in the crowd, and hugged before moving on to talk to other members of the cast and crew.
STORY: 'The Host' Premiere: Stephenie Meyer on Moving on From 'Twilight'
Meyer says that she did not at first consider Ronan, 18, for the lead of the film because she was younger than the character Melanie in the 600-plus-page book.
“I wasn’t thinking that young, but then once we really looked at what she could do and what no one else could do, I can’t picture anyone else in the role,” she tells THR at the party.
For Niccol, he felt that no one else could handle the role of Melanie, a human girl whose body is invaded by a “soul” but she refuses to die and continues to fight the “soul” internally.
“We did not have a plan B. If Saoirse Ronan couldn’t do it, I don’t know who could do it,” he says. “She’s one of the most truthful actress of any age.”
For Ronan, it was the challenge of playing a dual character that actually attracted her to the role.
“I knew it would be a real challenge to really have to build two characters from the ground up and find a way to differentiate the two,” she says, “yet still have them bounce of one another and kind of have them work in harmony with each other.”
PHOTOS: Gillian Flynn and Reese Witherspoon, Stephenie Meyer and 'The Host' Cast: Authors With Their Stars
The men who play the love interests in the film, Irons and Abel, were also quick to credit Ronan with doing all the of the heavy lifting.
“It’s credit to Saoirse Ronan for making two clear distinct characters and playing them with such skill,” says Irons. “She’s an incredible actress.”
Also playing a dual character is Kruger, as a Seeker, which is a “soul” who is tasked with hunting down the rebel humans still hiding out on Earth.
While her character comes off as a villain, Kruger tells THR that “the jury is still out who the villain is -- the alien or the human.”
In the futuristic world, the aliens keep most of the human’s items intact, still driving human cars and using human technology. One of their silver cars used in the film was even parked outside of the Hollywood event so partygoers could take a gander.
Keeping with the theme, the waiters and bartenders at the party wore all-white outfits, the same ensemble worn by the seekers. That look is something that Kruger -- whose boyfriend Joshua Jackson stayed close to her in a booth at the party -- says she probably wouldn’t choose to wear in real life.
“Listen, it looks cool, but wearing pristine white in the desert is a little ridiculous,” she says. “Apparently the aliens figured out how to do laundry.”

Katy Perry And John Mayer Break Up

Katy Perry And John Mayer Break Up
Reports say the hot 'n' cold pair, dating on and off since June, have called it quits again.
After dating on and off since last summer, John Mayer and Katy Perry have broken up again, People reports.

"It's sad," a source told Us Weekly. "It's not over until it's over. You have to see how things play out." In what is becoming the de facto Hollywood response, another source blamed the couple's busy schedules, saying, "She's leaving the window open. They have both been so focused on work."

First spotted together last June, John and Katy called it quits back in August. That was short-lived, however, as the duo were seen smooching it up at awards shows and restaurants around Los Angeles the next month.

Just last month, the seemingly happy couple was spotted together at the Grammys, with Perry even revealing to our own Sway that her "boyfriend" introduced her to the smooth sounds of Miguel.

Mayer has left a slew of starlets in his wake in the past, including very public relationships with Taylor Swift and Jessica Simpson. Perry, meanwhile, was married to Russell Brand for 14 months before they announced their divorce in 2011.

Perry and Mayer's camps haven't yet commented on the reported breakup.

Do you think John Mayer and Katy Perry have broken up for good? Share your thoughts in the comments below.

Next Bond film to be released within three years

Next Bond film to be released within three years
Last year's Skyfall was the highest-grossing Bond film ever, taking over $1.1 billion (£730 million) at the box office worldwide. During a conference call with investors yesterday (March 19), Reuters reports, MGM's CEO Gary Barber gave an update on the follow-up.
He said: "We are very excited about the franchise, we look forward to announcing a director soon. We are currently developing the screenplay and working with our partners. We look forward to developing the script soon and signing a director. We are hoping within the next 3 years it will be released."
Earlier this month (March), Skyfall director Sam Mendes revealed he was asked to return for the next Bond film by producers Michael G Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, but decided to turn them down. "I have theatre and other commitments… that need my complete focus over the next year and beyond," he explained.

Although Mendes won't be returning, Daniel Craig is contracted for at least two more Bond films and Skyfall writer John Logan has been hired to pen the next two scripts.

Stephenie Meyer, Kruger premiere 'The Host' in L.A.

Stephenie Meyer, Kruger premiere 'The Host' in L.A.
Diane Kruger says she 'hadn't quite realized' how devoted Meyer's fans were until recently.
HOLLYWOOD—Werewolves and vampires? So 2012. Author Stephenie Meyer's got a far more futuristic blueprint for 2013 with The Host, her newly adapted film hitting theaters March 29.

At the movie's L.A. premiere Tuesday night, the Twilight saga's author noted the whirlwind since Breaking Dawn Part 2 bid adieu to fans last fall. "It's only been a few months, but really, so much has happened," Meyer said at the Arclight Hollywood theater, alternating interviews with signing fans' books. With Bella and Edward in her rearview mirror, Meyer's new tale, helmed by screenwriter/director Andrew Niccol (Gattica), puts an emphasis on species unknown.

In the sci-fi movie, unyielding aliens invade Earth and possess humans' bodies, coldly erasing their memories. With the world's population whittled down to just a small group of human survivors, the spotlight is on two young adults (Saoirse Ronan, Max Irons) to fight back.

"It's exciting to meet young people who have read the book and who are excited about the film," said Ronan, 18, who plays Melanie Stryder, a human invaded by an alien for the majority of the film. Ronan, who previously earned praise for films including Hanna and The Lovely Bones, said she was taken aback by the fervor surrounding The Host. "It's the first time I've been involved in a film where there's so much tension around it from the (start), really before the film's even come out or been reviewed."

Diane Kruger, whose alien character systematically hunts humans, said she "hadn't quite realized" how devoted Meyer's fans were. "Of course, I knew Twilight was big and all that, but we did a poster signing a couple of days ago here in Los Angeles and thousands of people showed up," she said on the red carpet. "I finally realized that this might be a different ball of wax. I got asked out on a date! I got gifts. It was kind of neat."

Niccol was requested specifically by Meyer to direct the film (the author says she felt included on "every major decision" with The Host, a change from the Twilight films). On the red carpet, Niccol said he "naively tried to forget about the expectations" associated with the author's work. "Because if I did start to think about it I probably wouldn't do it, because there are so many fans who love the book."
Meanwhile, Irons could give Robert Pattinson a run for his money in the heartthrob department. The 27-year-old actor (who is the son of Jeremy Irons) initially thought he didn't "stand a chance" at nabbing the role of Jared. Now fully aboard the Meyer project, "I think Stephenie would admit that this is a change in direction for her," he said. "It exists by itself."

Kruger, dressed in a sheer black Thakoon dress and futuristic silver Jimmy Choo sandals (with beau Joshua Jackson by her side as her date), said she loved the challenge of playing her first major villain. "It's really rare to have the baddie be a girl, let alone to have two really strong female characters in a movie," she said, noting Ronan's protagonist.

In The Host, the exiled humans hide out in a dim cave. What would the cast pack for an impending apocalypse? "Other than water or food? Probably a nice down blanket or pillow," laughed Kruger. Both Ronan and Meyer picked their iPods. "If I have my music I'm going to be OK," said Meyer, who plans to "lock myself in my office to finish the sequel," after The Host debuts (she is still uncertain if it will be a trilogy).

Irons voted for a bathtub and a double bed. "I'm not a tough survivor," he grinned. "I need my creature comforts."

Rihanna at the ACC: Barbadian pop queen capable of so much more

Rihanna at the ACC: Barbadian pop queen capable of so much more
Rihanna’s latest world tour may be called Diamonds, but her performance during the first of two nights at The Air Canada Centre was anything but a gem.
Starting just after 10 p.m., following the opening set by New York rapper A$AP Rocky, what should have been one of the more brilliant live performances of the year – after setting a decent standard with her Loud tour – was little more than a 100-minute hot mess, albeit with flashes of greatness.
Photos: Rihanna and A$AP RockyRihanna and A$AP Rocky
The Barbadian pop queen, supporting her latest album Unapologetic, seemed to be suffering little of the after effects of a combined flu bug and laryngitis episode that forced her to cancel dates in Boston and Baltimore last week.
So there must be another reason why – for the first four songs and 15 minutes – Robin “Rihanna” Fenty did a lot more dancing than singing, relying heavily on her two backing singers to fill out some of the verses and choruses of such numbers as “Talk That Talk” and “Pour It Up” as she shimmied the night away.
It might have been another matter altogether had the choreography been halfway decent, but Rihanna’s dance moves were amateurish at best, and unbelievably sluggish.
And this was with the help of 10 synchronized, similarly garbed dancers who capably followed their instruction, but just didn’t inspire.
With the exception of a bit of dramatic license with “Rockstar 101,” Rihanna herself seemed to lack any intensity or emotion. Certainly her four accompanying musicians – including Extreme’s Nuno Bettencourt on guitar, remember him? – provided solid electric support, though their cause wasn’t helped by a largely muddy sound mix.
Frankly, this is a show that should have succeeded on every level, from the three-dimensional art museum screen set and the humongous circular stage, to the 28 full and partial renditions of hits like “Rude Boy” and “Umbrella” and the explicit sexuality of the one-track theme that seems to dominate the majority of Rihanna songs from “Birthday Cake” to “Cockiness (Love it)” or “S&M.”
When this reviewer witnessed the Loud tour, Rihanna possessed magnetic charisma, sang her heart out and executed a number of theatrical vignettes that ideally suited her muse.
With the Diamonds tour, she comes across as a second rate Madonna and a rather flat one at that.
Maybe she needs to take a bit of a hiatus and regroup. When Rihanna did shine, it was thanks to the strength of the song rather than the elation of her performance.
And we all know Rihanna is capable of so much more.

Lil Wayne latest: 'Resting' in hospital

Lil Wayne latest: 'Resting' in hospital

Stars have been visiting the rapper at Cedars-Sinai.

Rapper Lil Wayne is recovering in a Los Angeles hospital, although his exact medical condition continues to remain unclear.

CNN reports that a friend said Saturday night after visiting Lil Wayne: "He's good, just resting."

Also on Saturday, at a surprise SXSW appearance at the Afghan Whigs show, Usher asked fans to pray for his pal.

"One of my fellow artists, good friend, Lil Wayne is going through a real hard time right now, y'all," he told the crowd. "And I just want to send a lot of positive attitude about his state. And a lot of positive energy out there right now. Can you guys make some noise for Lil Wayne one time? You know it's ultimately about positive energy. You believe in that? So one time make some noise."

TMZ had reported the star, 30, was in a medically induced coma, causing a flurry of concern over the rapper's health on Friday night.

More: Lil Wayne hospitalized after seizures

But Mack Maine, president of Lil Wayne's Young Money label, downplayed the seriousness of the visit, tweeting, "Dont believe the nonsense about comas and tubes to breathe ... that's false!!"

Maine added, via Twitter, that he and Lil Wayne had been watching the Syracuse University Orange play the Georgetown Hoyas in the Big East men's basketball tournament.

TMZ also reported that Wayne's medical issues may have stemmed from going "on a Sizzurp binge," because doctors found high amounts of codeine in his system.

The Daily Beast says in a new story that Weezy (as he is called) has had a "long habit of sipping 'syrup, sizzurp, lean, or Texas tea' as the real cause of his ailing health." It's an addictive habit, which involves sipping prescription-strength cough syrup laced with codeine and other extras that can increase the high.

No one has explained exactly what the rapper's health problems are; publicist Kia Selby told CNN, "Lil Wayne is doing well."

Through it all, Lil Wayne has had a parade of stars visit him at Cedars-Sinai, including American Idol judge Nicki Minaj, who was spotted at the hospital on Saturday night.

Hear Beyonce's wild new song 'Bow Down/I Been On'

Hear Beyonce's wild new song 'Bow Down/I Been On'
Beyonce isn't backing down.
After the brouhaha over her supposed lip-synching of the national anthem (which ended up being untrue), her Super Bowl Halftime Show appearance and her self-directed documentary, controversy has been trailing her everywhere. It's not going to stop now.
Beyonce dropped new music Sunday night on her website, where she raps and swears a lot. She offered “Bow Down/I Been On,” without comment. That makes sense since she knows the world would soon have plenty of comments for her.
“Bow Down/I Been On” may or may not be on her forthcoming album. It may be one or two songs. It may be a new single or not. In any case, it's certainly a firestarter that is unlike anything from her previous “4” album.
The “Bow Down” section – produced by Hit Boy, who also handled the controversial Jay-Z & Kanye West hit “In Paris,” with its spacey synths and driving beat – features Beyonce singing sweetly, “I know when you were little girls you dreamt of being in my world. Don’t forget it. Respect that. Bow down [expletive].” She gets a bit fiercer as she refers to husband Jay-Z, “I took my time to live my life, but don’t think I’m just his little wife. Don’t get it twisted, this is my [expletive].” (Is this the return of Sasha Fierce? The cover art for "Bow Down" suggests that she's having a bit of fun with the over-the-top boasting.)
The song then shifts into a grand operatic piece that has been used in commercials previewing her upcoming “Mrs. Carter World Tour” and then moves into the “I Been On” bit of the clip, which features Bey rapping over a beat that's in the chopped-and-screwed style from her hometown of Houston, with her voice altered to make it sound like a man.
In the rap, she boasts, like countless rappers, “I been on, I been on, tell me who gon' take me off.” However, she gets more personal as the song goes on, representing Houston and talking of her past, offering shoutouts to Willie D of the Geto Boys and UGK, even delivering a bit of UGK's “Something Good.”
“Bow Down/I Been On” is a bold step for Beyonce, one that once again shows that she's willing to follow her musical ideas wherever they lead her. This time out, she sounds like she's having way more fun than she did on “4” and that kind of fun is infectious, even if it comes with more of a potty-mouth.

Emma Watson addresses 'Fifty Shades of Grey' buzz

Emma Watson addresses 'Fifty Shades of Grey' buzz
The 'Harry Potter' star is tweeting about starring in the bondage movie.
Universal Studios said Friday there's no truth to reports of Emma Watson being attached to the film adaptation of sexy bondage book Fifty Shades of Grey. No one has been cast yet.

But predicting and offering suggestions as to who should play main characters Christian Grey and Ana Steele has prompted endless speculation.

Emma Watson's name came up in hacked documents, which caused the latest round of rumors, and the Harry Potter star took to Twitter to comment on them.

"Who here actually thinks I would do 50 Shades of Grey as a movie? Like really. For real. In real life," Watson wrote Sunday. "Good. Well, that's sorted then. :)"

Most take that to be "slam" at the idea, although others note that she's not actually denying it. What do you think?

'It's Tragic': Twilight Author Feels 'Guilty' About Kristen Stewart And Robert Pattinson's Relationship Troubles

'It's Tragic': Twilight Author Feels 'Guilty' About Kristen Stewart And Robert Pattinson's Relationship Troubles
Twilight author Stephenie Meyer has admitted that she feels guilty about Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart's relationship troubles, calling the media attention surrounding them "tragic."

Meyer helped launch the careers of Rob and Kristen when they were cast in the film adaptations of her smash hit Twilight Saga series. Of course the films led to the on-screen lovers getting together in real life too. After Kristen's affair with Snow White And The Huntsman Director last year though, the couple have barely been out of the headlines with rumours of multiple breakups and reconciliations.

Meyer has now admitted that she believes the main cause of their romantic problems is because the pair have been so scrutinised by the media."Here's the thing: there are some actors who are looking to be world famous, to be that household name, and although they might discover that there are a lot of negative things involved in that, it's what they want," The author tells The Times.

"But that doesn't apply to Kristen and Rob. That's what makes it kind of ironic and tragic.''

She added that the privacy loving pair "don't enjoy the parts [of fame] that other people would. And I totally get that, because it would not be my thing either."

Whilst the couple have their love life splashed across the papers, Stephenie admits that the press have largely stayed away from her:

"At the same time - and this is where the guilt comes from - it's created this nice, peaceful place for me. They took all of my heat, which I feel bad about. If they had the choice, I've no idea if they'd even do Twilight again. I just don't know. I think this has all come at a heavy price.''

Meanwhile, whilst Rob is busy shooting The Rover in Australia, Kristen is worried about her future career, post Twilight. The brunette has revealed all to the Chicago Sun Times, admitting that she's having a tough time venturing into new roles because she fears her former chatacter Bella Swan will stay with her forever.

Now that the Twilight Saga has finally ended, K-Stew says that she's trying to distance herself from her vampy role. She says, “Of course, there are people who so genuinely love the Twilight movies and books that they’ve said, ‘Every single time I see you in a movie, you’re still Bella to me.’ It doesn’t bother me. I just say, ‘Fantastic, you’re a big Bella fan. I can totally relate. I’m a fan of Bella, too.’”
