Britney Spears celebrated the news in a news release. "I have always loved the Smurfs as a kid and now my boys are the biggest Smurfs fans EVER," Spears said.

Britney Spears goes blue for her latest single.

It was announced Wednesday that the 31-year-old singer recorded a new song, “Ooh La La," to be featured on the upcoming "The Smurfs 2" soundtrack.

The track was produced by "Femme Fatale" collaborators and will play during the ending credits of the Smurf sequel, which is due out July 31.
"I have always loved the Smurfs as a kid and now my boys are the biggest Smurfs fans EVER," Spears said in a release. "I wanted to surprise them with a song in the movie. I know they'll think it's Smurftastic!"

In a tweet on the exciting news Wednesday, the mother of two said, "Remember that surprise song I recorded for my boys? It's coming soon! #OohLaLa for #TheSmurfs2 :) Stay tuned for more ..."
Spears isn't the only pop princess attached to the film: Katy Perry is reprising her role as the voice of Smurfette.
